The government continues to provide grants towards the installation of a dedicated charge point at home.
The Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant provides up to 75% of the installation cost of a charge point, up to a maximum of £350, to homeowners who live in flats, or individuals who live in rented accommodation, and whose home has its own off-street parking space.
The scheme has been extended within funded local authorities in England to those who own or rent a residential property in which they live which has adequate on-street parking; applicants must have permission from the local council to install a cross pavement charging solution between their home and the approved parking space, which must be installed before the chargepoint is installed.
Grants of up to £350 are available for each workplace charging unit, up to a maximum of 40 per organisation.
Grants of up to £2,500 are available for each socket installed in a state-funded school or education institution workplace.
Until April 2025, a 100% first year allowance is available to businesses for expenditure incurred on electric charge point equipment.
